The strawberry is one of the most popular fruits. Strawberries are very versatile: they are delicious as a snack, and delicious for breakfast with yoghurt, for example. You can also process strawberries in desserts and cakes.
Strawberries can be combined perfectly with blue and red berries, blackberries and raspberries, for example. Did you know that the strawberry is a false fruit? The small seeds on the outside are the actual fruits.
The exact origin of the strawberry is unknown, but the fruit has been eaten by humans since the Bronze Age. Our strawberries come mainly from the Netherlands, but also from our own growers in Portugal, Spain, Egypt, Israel and Ethiopia.
Strawberries have a sweet and juicy taste.
Rinse the strawberries carefully if you want (you don’t have to). Remove the green crown (only after washing). Strawberries are delicious to eat as a snack and you can use them in a variety of dishes. From smoothie to pasta!
Preferably store strawberries in the fridge, they will keep for longer. You can keep them in the punnet, but to prevent bruising it is better to place them on a plate or dish.
Strawberries left over? Freeze them! Place the strawberries loosely on a plate and put them in the freezer. Once they are properly frozen, you can put them all in a bag or container. Strawberries keep for 8 to 12 months in the freezer. Perfect for a delicious smoothie!

Strawberries are real powerhouses, bursting with vitamin C and rich in folic acid. In addition, they contain on average half the amount of calories compared to other fruit.
