Sweet & Juicy

BLACKBERRIES

Blackberries are almost black, deep blue berries that are juicy and taste sweet and sour. The special fruit is related to the strawberry. Just like raspberries, they are composed of numerous little balls, the so-called partial fruits.

Blackberries are very versatile: they are tasty as a snack, and delicious for breakfast with yoghurt, for example. You can also use blackberries in salads, meat dishes, desserts and cakes.

WHERE DO BLACKBERRIES COME FROM?

Blackberries have probably been known since prehistoric times. Our blackberries come from the Netherlands, Mexico, Spain, Guatemala and Portugal.

HOW DO BLACKBERRIES TASTE?

Blackberries are sweet and juicy. The first blackberries of the season sometimes taste slightly tangy, but after that they are wonderfully sweet and juicy.

HOW DO YOU EAT BLACKBERRIES?

If you want to wash blackberries before use, do it quickly and in cold water. Only remove crowns and stalks after washing. Eat them as a tasty snack or use them in a variety of dishes.

HOW DO YOU STORE BLACKBERRIES?

Keep blackberries spread on a plate in the fridge, they will keep for longer.

BLACKBERRY TIPS

Puree blackberries for jam or fruit puree. Because they are quite soft, blackberries do not have to be pre-cooked. If you do not like seeds, you can sift them out.
