When is an avocado ripe?

It can be quite tricky to determine the ripeness of an avocado, yet there are several tricks that may help you.

  • Gently squeezing the avocado can tell you a lot. You can squeeze a ripe avocado a little, but it still feels firm. If it’s very soft, it’s likely overripe.
  • You can also carefully remove the small stem of the avocado. If it comes off easily, and you see green underneath, it’s ready to eat!
